OPTERRA Energy Services Named as Finalist for NAESCO Project of the Year Press Release
Airports and ports operate under continuous demand, complex coordination requirements, and strict safety expectations. Aging utility systems, rising operating costs, and deferred maintenance increase operational risk just as passenger volumes, cargo throughput, and electrification initiatives continue to grow.
OPTERRA partners with airport and port authorities to modernize mission-critical infrastructure while keeping facilities fully operational. Through disciplined execution, performance-based delivery, and single-point accountability, OPTERRA helps transportation agencies strengthen reliability, control long-term costs, and deliver infrastructure upgrades that align with operational realities.
Airport infrastructure must be upgraded without disrupting safety, flight schedules, or passenger experience in always-on operating environments.

Monterey Regional Airport sought to reduce energy costs and advance sustainability goals without disrupting passenger services or airport operations. Serving a 498-acre campus, the airport needed a reliable, long-term energy solution aligned with safety and operational requirements.
OPTERRA delivered a turnkey 862 kW ground-mounted solar PV system with coordinated utility interconnection and performance monitoring. The system generates more than 1.5 million kWh annually and is projected to deliver approximately $5.5 million in net savings over 25 years while supporting continuous, dependable airport operations.
Located in a hot desert climate, Palm Springs International Airport needed to better control energy and water use while maintaining passenger comfort, safety, and uninterrupted airport operations. Outdated control systems and rising cooling demands created operational and cost pressures across the campus.
OPTERRA conducted a comprehensive facilities assessment and delivered targeted efficiency upgrades, including central plant improvements, energy-efficient lighting, and modernized HVAC and irrigation controls. The upgrades reduced energy costs, improved system precision and occupant comfort, and were implemented with minimal disruption, supporting reliable, efficient airport operations in a demanding environment.
