Metro Water Recovery 2

Metro Water Recovery

Metro Water Recovery, the largest wastewater treatment provider in the Rocky Mountain West, needed to replace aging cogeneration equipment without taking on significant capital expense or increasing operational burden.

Through an energy services agreement, modern gas turbines were installed to convert methane waste gas into electricity and heat for onsite use, reducing reliance on grid power and natural gas.

The system now generates up to 39,000 MWh annually and delivers approximately $700,000 in electricity savings each year, along with additional operational savings. By shifting ownership and maintenance responsibilities to the service provider, Metro Water Recovery achieved significant cost savings and performance improvements without upfront capital investment or added staffing requirements.
